Step-by-Step Directions for Padlet Entry
Open the Class Padlet Link
Find our shared Padlet link on Google Classroom (or where I posted it).
Switch to Table View so you see the column headings clearly.
Add a New Row (Click the + button)
Fill out each column in this order:Story Title → Select your short story from the dropdown (The Story of an Hour, The Great Silence, or “Other”).
Main Claim → Write one sentence that is an argument about how two literary elements create meaning in your story. (Not a summary.)
Example: Chopin uses narration and setting to show that freedom is more important to Louise Mallard than love.
Element #1 → Choose your first element (Character, Setting, Plot, or Narration).
Evidence 1 → Type or paste your first quote from the story with paragraph/page number.
Evidence 2 → Add your second quote for Element #1.
Element #2 → Choose your second element (different from Element #1).
Evidence 3 → Add your first quote for Element #2.
Evidence 4 → Add your second quote for Element #2.
Techniques Used → List any literary techniques used in your evidence (diction, imagery, irony, symbolism, tone, etc.). You can list more than one.
Connections → In 1–2 short phrases, explain how Element #1 and Element #2 work together (examples: “builds tension”, “reveals irony”, “shapes theme”).
Thematic Insight → In 1–2 sentences, explain what the story says about a bigger idea (freedom, identity, human experience, etc.).
Checklist Before You Submit
✅ My main claim is arguable, not just a summary.
✅ I have four strong quotes with citations.
✅ I chose two different literary elements.
✅ I listed at least one literary technique.
✅ My connections show how the elements work together.
✅ My thematic insight is thoughtful and clear.
